We want to make plastic-free shopping attainable and enjoyable.
We started Amis de la Terre Market with the vision that eliminating plastic packaging from pantry staples can have a dramatic impact on consumer plastic waste. However, none of the supermarkets make it easy. Having witnessed the success of local refill shops for home goods and cosmetics, we wanted to fill a gap in Orange County’s access to sustainable options.
You can bring in your own jars and weigh them empty at the scale station set up at the front of the shop. You’ll assign a tag with an RFID chip to each jar that stores the weight of that jar, so you don’t have to remember it! We also sell jars of various shapes and sizes, and provide paper bags as well. Once your containers are filled, bring them to the check-out counter and we will do the rest!
We thoughtfully designed our store to make your shopping experience both streamlined and enjoyable. The design calls forth the effortlessness of a summer in the South of France, while our weigh, tag, and fill system keeps you in that relaxed state of mind. No more writing down weights of containers and SKU numbers for each product like at the big box stores.
Our shop is self-service or we can fill all your containers for you… just let us know! We’re here to answer all of your questions and provide you with all the nutritious pantry staples you could desire.
